Colombia.......Here I come.....(Part 4)

Image
I was wondering to myself, "what am I going to do for the next 14 hrs of flight time?". As the stewardess got busy helping passengers stowing their hand luggage's onto the overhead compartment, I got myself busy going thru' the laminated safety procedures leaflets after fastening my seatbelt. I also love reading their in-flight magazine "Travel 360" (3sixty), especially articles by Capt Lim. Overheard on the PA, the Captain's giving the order to the cabin crew to close and secure all doors. In flight safety briefing follows quickly afterwards, as the plane slowly began taxiing on the tarmac, proceeding to the take-off position at the far end of the runaway. Air traffic is not too busy this time of the day. Most long haul flights arrive and departs early evening or very late at night. As usual for me, every time taking any form of transport, I would "say my prayers & thanking the All Mighty for the convenience & to God I will return". ...

After an hour in the Business Lounge, I made my way towards the Departure Hall. Took the esecalator. There was a long  queue after the boarding-pass check, but Malaysian citizen were fortunate that there were a few Electronic Passport Scanning system which can forgo the manual immigration counter. "It's a breeze"......then I moved towards the security screening system where my back-pack gave a "beep" sound......Oops, it must be my tablet which I accidentally forgot to take out and scanned independently. True enough........after apologising the mishap, I was cleared to enter the Main Departure Hall. Then I took an escalator downstairs where there are Duty Free shops, Fashion Galleries, and Cafes. I was telling myself, "these shops definitely were competing against each other, to make customers spend & spend their loose change" ! The Old LCCT in Sepang  In order to avoid spending my limited cash, I decided to use another business lounge within...

Entrance to the Old LCCT in Sepang As I reached the LCCT, picked my Big Luggage and Backpack and straight away proceed to the check-in counter. As it is 3 hrs away from the flight time I was allowed to "dropped off" my bag at the Bag Drop counter. I did my web check-in last night. After everything's in order, I proceed to the Premier Lounge for some food and drinks. There, I had the chance to review some of the reading materials given by the Colombian Embassy. The one that caught my attention was a brochure that was produced by their Tourism Board. The Cover reads "Discover Colombia Through it's Heart". Whilst the back page reads "Come, feel, interact and visit our country. Deep from our heart we assure that the only risk to be faced when visiting will be wanting to stay". Wow....what a catchy phrase ! Their famous motto "Colombia is passion". I am hoping to meet many passionate people in Colombia. I know they are very passionate abo...

It's normal for me, the night before I travel, my mind always working overtime, thinking of the things that I might overlooked. So in order to avoid such over reaction, I made a check lists and (tick) confirm all the essential items such as international socket adaptors, mobile phones, tablet, batteries, chargers, camera, tripod, maps, compass, mini torchlight, gloves, toiletries, passport, air tickets, hotel booking confirmation printout, credit cards, currencies, training shoes, flip flop, biscuits and my essential small binoculars are all packed in their respective compartments. Hence the carry-on backpack becomes handy to store the essential items as long as it does not contain more than 100ml fluid. With those preparation out of the way, I could easily put myself to sleep. Dream it was......I was already in Cartagena. The Carnival and Historic City. Exploring the city by bicycle. Equipped with Camera, Map, Binoculars and Compass, I travelled from one corner of the city to th...

Journey to Colombia, South America

Image
The year was 2011. It's hardly three months after I left my job with a multi-national company in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I felt the urged to travel to distant land. The continent that I felt compelled to seek more information on, was South America or Latin America. For your information, I started travelling when I was sixteen years old. It's not by choice but by default. I was sent to Liverpool, England to pursue my studies. It happens that this branch of studies will take me to the rest of the World. You can guess.....? Liverpool is famous for two things : 1) Beatles & The Music Scene 2) Ports & Shipping. Off course there is the 3rd one....which is the Liverpool Football Club and following closely behind is Everton Football Club. Liverpool SeaFront On one of my voyages to the Latin American continent, I visited the Port of Barranquilla in Colombia. I remembered that I used to pronounce the name of the port wrongly. It is actually pronounced as "Barrangki...
