Colombia......Here I Come.....(Part 2)

Entrance to the Old LCCT in Sepang

As I reached the LCCT, picked my Big Luggage and Backpack and straight away proceed to the check-in counter. As it is 3 hrs away from the flight time I was allowed to "dropped off" my bag at the Bag Drop counter. I did my web check-in last night. After everything's in order, I proceed to the Premier Lounge for some food and drinks. There, I had the chance to review some of the reading materials given by the Colombian Embassy. The one that caught my attention was a brochure that was produced by their Tourism Board. The Cover reads "Discover Colombia Through it's Heart". Whilst the back page reads "Come, feel, interact and visit our country. Deep from our heart we assure that the only risk to be faced when visiting will be wanting to stay". Wow....what a catchy phrase ! Their famous motto "Colombia is passion". I am hoping to meet many passionate people in Colombia. I know they are very passionate about their music and thus passionately dance to the tune of Salsa.......I have seen Shakira dance on TV.

In another narration : WHAT THE WORLD NEED TO KNOW ABOUT COLOMBIANS ?
The world needs to know that passion has led Colombian figures such as Literature Nobel Prize winner, Gabriel Garcia Marquez; writer, Alvaro Mutis; painters, Fernando Botero and Alejandro Obregon; Scientists, Manuel Elkin Patarroyo, Jorge Reynolds; singers, Shakira, Juanes and Carlos Vives; sports figures, Juan Pablo Montoya, Camilo Villegas, Maria Luisa Calle and Santiago Botero and Chef, Leonor Espinosa and many well-known personalities in their respective fields, all the while feeling proud of their nationality.

I believe in the following quotes by the well known Physicist, Scientist and Philosopher :

"I have no special talent, I am only passionately curious" - Albert Einstein

"A ship is always safe at the shore, but that is not what it is built for" - Albert Einstein

Hence, this journey of mine, is to fulfil the curiosity that was embedded in me all this while. It's good to see outside your shore.....I could discover and learn a thing or two about other peoples culture and way of life. It's always interesting interacting with people of different cultures and traditions and tasting their varieties of food and drinks. These kind of experiences, you can't feel and taste in travel book or gourmet book. Breathing the air and feeling the sea spray from the Caribbean Seas is something which needs the presence of the body & soul. Surely my taste bud can't wait to savour their many delicious meals on the menu.

It has been men's nature to explore and seek new territory. Ever since the early explorer, much has been said about their adventure. There's also this lady pilot which strike me as exemplary :

"Every flier who ventures across oceans to distant land is a potential explorer; in his or her soul burns the same fire that urged adventurers of old to set forth in their sailing ships for foreign land".

By Jean Batten 1979 "Alone in the sky"
  • 1936 – England–New Zealand. World record for any type. 22,891 km (14,224 mi) in 11 days 45 minutes total elapsed time, including 2 12 days in Sydney.
