Colombia......Here I come.......(Part 3)

After an hour in the Business Lounge, I made my way towards the Departure Hall. Took the esecalator. There was a long  queue after the boarding-pass check, but Malaysian citizen were fortunate that there were a few Electronic Passport Scanning system which can forgo the manual immigration counter. "It's a breeze"......then I moved towards the security screening system where my back-pack gave a "beep" sound......Oops, it must be my tablet which I accidentally forgot to take out and scanned independently. True enough........after apologising the mishap, I was cleared to enter the Main Departure Hall. Then I took an escalator downstairs where there are Duty Free shops, Fashion Galleries, and Cafes. I was telling myself, "these shops definitely were competing against each other, to make customers spend & spend their loose change" !

In order to avoid spending my limited cash, I decided to use another business lounge within the departure area. There, I spend my time reading the latest news in the UK, France and Colombia. The quickest way to do this, is by checking yahoo website for the three countries (.co.uk, .fr, .com.co). Anything happens in these three countries will affect my trip. It's good to know in advance what's happening there, before you arrive versus being caught by surprise ! Later, without realising it, I fall asleep for a good thirty minutes ..... my mind and body must have been very tired. It was a long nights of ironing, folding and packing. Especially squeezing my stuff into the limited space in my 20 kg suitcase for the coming 17 days trip.

Business Lounge

About thirty minutes prior to departure time, an announcement was heard on the PA requesting passengers on flight D72008 to London to proceed to the boarding gate. The final departure room was very crowded, looks like a full house. What AirAsia offers must have been the cheapest airfare from KUL to STN. A lot of Aussies & New Zealanders are taking advantage of the cheap airfare and thus, transiting Kuala Lumpur prior hopping to the UK. Soon enough, we were piling up to the aircraft which is waiting for us on the tarmac. From far, I could guess the aircraft that we will be boarding, as she stands out from the rest of the aircraft. It's a big bird (Airbus A330-343) compares to other Airbus A320 on the tarmac. Although the afternoon Sun is over our head, I somehow felt refreshed due to the open atmosphere and unrestricted perimeter. At the aircraft, there were two accomodation ladders spread out at the front and the back of the plane. I choosed the front, as my seat is in the 3rd row and by the window (3K). Pre-selected this seat because I do not want to get the glare from the sun, as the sun will be shining on the left side (port side) of the plane. The aircraft will be heading in a North Westerly direction towards London. With this Westward movement, and looking at the pace of our travel, there will be more daylight than darkness. That means there will only be less than 4 hours of darkness prior reaching London. The 10 hrs or so will be daylight. Although, the total flight time is 14 hours, we save 8 hours due to the time difference (GMT +8) between London & Kuala Lumpur. Effectively, we only travelled 6 hours.
